Samsung annonce un investissement record de plus de 200 milliards de dollars pour fabriquer entre autres des semi-conducteurs et des vaccins.
Le groupe sud-coréen Samsung a dévoilé mardi un plan d’investissement de 205 milliards de dollars destiné à faire de la société un leader dans le domaine des technologies, des semi-conducteurs à la robotique.
Le géant de la « tech » est le plus grand conglomérat de Corée du Sud. Son chiffre d’affaires global est l’équivalent d’un cinquième du produit national brut du pays. Samsung Electronics, sa filiale, est le plus grand fabricant mondial de smartphones.
Le plan permettra d’« aider Samsung à renforcer sa position globale dans des secteurs industriels clefs tout en étant le fer de lance de l’innovation dans de nouveaux domaines », a affirmé le groupe dans un communiqué, ajoutant qu’il poursuivrait également des acquisitions de sociétés.
Dans le domaine des semi-conducteurs, la société a affirmé qu’elle chercherait à améliorer les technologies de pointe pour faire face à la « demande de long-terme plutôt qu’aux changements à court terme ». Elle cherchera aussi à étendre son activité bio-pharmaceutique par le biais de ses filiales Samsung Biologics et Samsung Bioepisit.
La conglomérat construira deux nouvelles usines en plus de trois en fonctionnement actuellement en vue de se lancer dans la fabrication de vaccins. Sur les 240.000 milliards de wons (205 milliards de dollars) que Samsung projette de dépenser, la société engagera 180.000 milliards de wons en Corée du Sud.
