L’ambassadeur d’Algérie aux Nations unies, Sofiane Mimouni a appelé, hier lundi, à la nomination rapide d’un nouvel envoyé personnel du SG de l’ONU pour le Sahara occidental, déplorant la « procrastination unilatérale » et les « obstacles dressés sciemment » face à l’organisation du référendum d’autodétermination dans les territoires occupés.
« La reprise des pourparlers directs et substantiels entre le Royaume du Maroc et le Front Polisario est la voie évidente pour parvenir à une solution juste et durable. Dans cet esprit, nous exhortons le Secrétaire général à nommer rapidement un nouvel envoyé personnel dans l’espoir qu’il contribuera à relancer le dialogue entre les deux parties », a indiqué M. Mimouni qui s’exprimait à l’occasion de la session annuelle du Comité spéciale de la décolonisation, dit Comité des 24.
Il a déploré, lors de son intervention aux travaux du comité, l’incapacité de la Mission des Nations unies pour l’organisation d’un référendum au Sahara occidental (Minurso) à remplir sa mission, notant au passage que de nombreuses opportunités avaient été manquées pour parvenir à une solution juste à la question sahraouie.
« La question du Sahara occidental a toujours été et reste une question de décolonisation », a assuré le diplomate algérien rappelant que « l’avis consultatif historique de 1975 de la Cour internationale de justice » a considéré que le Maroc n’avait aucune autorité sur le Sahara occidental.
