Le tramway de Mostaganem débutera son fonctionnement non commercial dès le 5 juillet prochain. Le wali, Aïssa Boulahya, après une visite d’inspection effectuée mardi, a annoncé que cette phase durera 2 ou 3 mois, après quoi viendra la phase d’exploitation commerciale.
Le réseau de tramway en construction sur un linéaire de 14 km réparti en 2 sections (de 12 et 2 km) est achevé en grande partie, avec un segment de 7 km entièrement construit. Les 5 autres km seront finalisés fin juin, toujours selon Aïssa Boulahya.
En développement depuis 2013, ce projet d’un coût de 26,5 milliards de dinars algériens n’a pas connu une progression normale en raison du retrait en 2017 de Corsan Isolux, l’entreprise espagnole exécutant initialement les travaux. La poursuite des travaux a été confiée 7 mois plus tard à Cosider, une entreprise publique algérienne.
Alstom-Algérie, filiale algérienne de la multinationale française qui assure entre autres la fourniture du système intégré, des voies, des systèmes de télécommunication et de signalisation, a fait savoir qu’elle lancera à partir de juin prochain des essais finaux sur la totalité du tracé de 14 kilomètres.
« Après juillet prochain, l’efficacité des essais sera relevée au niveau de l’ensemble du tracé et le nombre de locomotives en service passera de 4 actuellement à 16, afin de préparer pleinement le projet à un usage commercial », a déclaré Amar Chouaki, directeur général d’Alstom-Algérie.
Selon les prévisions officielles, le projet dans sa phase opérationnelle permettra de transporter en moyenne 20 000 passagers par jour.
